Fake Document Contains Disinformation Regarding Temporary Restriction in Border Counties Amid NATO Military Exercises
The Polish Government Security Center has issued a warning about a counterfeit document attributed to the Marshal of Podkarpackie Voivodeship. According to the official statement, the document contains false information regarding the temporary restriction of movement in the counties of Jarosław, Lubaczów, and Przemyśl, which are located in the border area with Ukraine. The alleged restriction was said to be in response to NATO military exercises taking place in the region. However, the Government Security Center has emphasized that this document is part of a Russian disinformation operation.
The communication from the Government Security Center reads, “ATTENTION! FAKE document from the Marshal of Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The document contains disinformation regarding the temporary restriction of movement in the counties of Jarosław, Lubaczów, and Przemyśl, in the border area with Ukraine, due to NATO military exercises.”
Russian Disinformation Operation Identified by Government Security Center
The Government Security Center (RCB) has identified various entities involved in Russian disinformation activities, which have been found to be propagating the counterfeit document attributed to the Marshal of Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The RCB stresses that this falsified document is a clear element of a larger Russian disinformation campaign aimed at sowing discord and confusion.
The circulation of such false information poses a significant threat to national security and public safety. The Polish authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and verify information from trusted and reliable sources. It is crucial to be aware of the ongoing information warfare and the tactics employed by those seeking to manipulate public opinion.
