Large-Scale Rescue Operation Initiated
In a significant rescue operation, police authorities successfully rescued hundreds of stranded passengers, including women and children, from the treacherous Changla Axis. The operation was launched on Friday evening in response to the influx of tourists and local passengers requiring assistance. The combined efforts of the UTDRF rescue team of Ladakh Police, along with the Army and GREEF rescue teams, ensured the safe evacuation of all passengers to Leh without any untoward incidents.
Challenging Weather Conditions and Road Issues
The rescue operation became necessary due to continuous intermittent snowfall over the past two days, which led to icy and slippery road conditions. As a result, several vehicles, including taxis and private cars, especially those belonging to tourists, became immobilized at Changla Top. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the police team from Kharu and Tangste police posts swiftly responded and focused on rescuing and evacuating stranded passengers, with a particular emphasis on women, children, and tourists.
