The New York Police Department (NYPD) has released video of a fatal shooting of a man who threatened Governor Kathy Hochul.
Raul Hardy, a 60-year-old Queens man, was shot to death by the NYPD on Saturday, July 9, 2022, after allegedly threatening to kill New York Governor Kathy Hochul.
At 6 p.m., the NYPD responded to a call about Raul Hardy, who had threatened to assassinate Kathy Hochul and “blow up” the world. Officers shot the 60-year-old after he began firing a handgun at them, according to authorities.
Hardy took out a firearm and pointed it at the officers, who demanded that he show them his hands. He then yelled “fuck you, bitch!” and pulled the trigger on his gun, at least four times.
Officers fired a total of 130 shots from their service firearms in response. Hardy was shot around the body several times before collapsing to the ground. His gun was later found near the location of his fall.
During the altercation, Hardy was armed with a Walther PK380.380 caliber pistol, which he used to fire several shots. Hardy was airlifted to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
