Revised Dates for NEET-UG, CUET-UG, and CUET-PG Exams in Manipur
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced new dates for the medical entrance exam NEET-UG, which was postponed in Manipur due to the prevailing law-and-order situation. The exam will now be conducted on any date between June 3 to 5, providing an opportunity for candidates to appear for the test. Additionally, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) and the postgraduate entrance test CUET-PG will also be held in Manipur. CUET-UG will take place from June 5 to 8, followed by CUET-PG from June 5 to 17.
Alternative Exam Centers and Option to Change Cities Offered
The NTA, in collaboration with the state administration of Manipur, has assessed the law-and-order situation and decided to provide exam centers to candidates for NEET-UG, CUET-UG, and CUET-PG. This development ensures that students in Manipur can participate in the exams without concerns about their safety. Furthermore, candidates who were unable to appear for NEET-UG or CUET-UG due to the law-and-order situation will have the option to change their exam city. This opportunity is extended to all affected candidates, regardless of whether they had downloaded their admit cards for the examinations.
Sadhana Parashar, senior director of NTA, emphasized the agency’s commitment to facilitating a fair and accessible examination process for all students in Manipur. The decision to reschedule the exams and offer alternative exam centers demonstrates the efforts made to accommodate the challenges faced by candidates in the region.
Manipur has recently witnessed incidents of violence stemming from the proposed granting of scheduled tribe status to the Metei community, the majority population in the state. The clashes between opposing groups, particularly the Naga and Kuki tribals, prompted the need for a revised exam schedule to ensure the safety and well-being of all candidates.
