“The Nigerian police have announced the arrest of 161 individuals who have been found guilty of electoral offenses in Kano during the recent election. State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Gumel, confirmed the arrests during a press briefing on Sunday.
The arrested individuals are reported to have committed various electoral offenses, including ballot box snatching, vote buying, intimidation, and attempted arson of the INEC office in the state.
CP Muhammad Gumel reiterated his commitment to ensuring a peaceful environment during and after the election, warning that the police will not hesitate to bring to justice anyone who tries to disrupt the electoral process.
He urged the public to report any suspicious activities and to avoid engaging in any form of violence, emphasizing that having a peaceful environment is the collective responsibility of every individual residing in the community.”
