On Saturday, the Jammu & Kashmir State Investigation Agency (SIA) initiated a search operation at eight different locations to investigate the recipients of slush funds that were channeled through Maulavi Sarjan Barkati, a well-known secessionist from South Kashmir.
According to government sources, more than Rs 1.5 crore was raised through crowdsourcing and alleged terrorist sources. These funds were allegedly used for personal gain, profiteering, and to advance secessionist-terrorist campaigns. Government sources claim that Maulavi Sarjan Barkati is known for mobilizing thousands of people during violent protests through his provocative speeches.
Jammu & Kashmir Police confirmed on Saturday that security forces and militants had engaged in combat in Pulwama’s Mitrigam neighborhood, but did not provide any further details on the matter. The investigation into the slush funds and their recipients is ongoing, and more information is expected to be released in the coming days.
The search operation launched by the SIA is a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by the government in tackling secessionist movements and terrorist activities in the region. It highlights the need for continued vigilance and proactive measures to maintain peace and stability in the area.
