The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has provided cash assistance to nearly 900 families impacted by the recent wars and natural disasters in the central area and six districts of Maidan Wardak province in Afghanistan. The IOM provided the aid under the supervision of the Taliban's Natural Disaster Management Authority. Families in the districts of Jalrez, Chaki Wardak, Saydabad, Nirkh, and Day Mirdad, as well as the central area, were eligible for this assistance.

Applying Eligibility Criteria

The IOM officials confirmed that eligible recipients of this cash assistance include families affected by the recent armed conflicts between the Taliban and the government's security forces. Families who have lost their homes and agricultural lands due to the last year's floods have also benefitted from this assistance.

Taliban's Response to the Crisis

Faridullah Rahimi, the Director of the Taliban's Natural Disaster Management Authority in Maidan Wardak province, informed the media that the distribution of these aids to the families was completed a few days ago under the coordination of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). He stated that the aid has been provided to families affected by wars and other incidents. Mr. Rahimi mentioned that those households who had their houses completely destroyed received $1,472 for the reconstruction of two rooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen. Moreover, those whose houses require minor repairs like windows, doors, and walls, were distributed $570.

The Taliban's Natural Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has been actively working to assist the affected families, especially those who have lost their homes in the war and natural disasters. The NDMA is playing a crucial role in the distribution of aid, providing immediate assistance to the affected people.

Final Thoughts

Overall, under the IOM's supervision, the Taliban's Natural Disaster Management Authority's distribution of cash assistance is aimed at helping the affected families rebuild their lives after these tragic events. This essential aid has come at a time when Afghanistan is going through extreme economic strife and political instability. As a result, IOM's initiative to provide essential assistance to the affected families through Taliban's supervisions is a positive start towards bringing stability to the troubled region.
