The World Health Organization has reported a steady increase in the number of cholera cases in Mozambique, amid a decline in the numbers of cases in other regions including Malawi.
To address the issue and contain its spread, an additional 1.3 million cholera vaccine doses will be provided to the country. However, the severe shortage of vaccines continues to be an issue
According to the WHO data, Malawi has recently witnessed a decline in cholera cases and related deaths. So far Africa’s overall number of cases stands at 40,000 with Malawi contributing to over half and Mozambique a total of 15% to the total number.
