In a bid to reduce the mortality rate of mothers and babies during childbirth, the Association of Obstetric Gynecology organised a symposium for female medical doctors on gynecology and obstetrics.
During the course of the symposium, the association highlighted the need to address the increasing number of deaths of mothers and babies in the country.
Head of the Association of Obstetric Gynecology, Najiba Sama Shafajo, in a statement said, “In most regions of the country we don’t have specialized doctors in gynecology and obstetrics.”
Some female medical practitioners stated that the shortage of doctors in gynecology and obstetrics is the reason behind the increased mortality of mothers and babies during childbirth.
