Disaster Toll Rises: 42 Lives Lost, 45 Injured in Natural Events Across Afghanistan

The Ministry of Disaster Management has issued a distressing report revealing the toll of natural calamities that struck 13 provinces in Afghanistan over the past month. According to Shafiullah Rahimi, the ministry’s spokesperson, these devastating events have resulted in a tragic loss of life, with at least 42 people losing their lives and another 45 individuals sustaining injuries.

In a video statement, Rahimi outlined the widespread destruction caused by these natural disasters. He disclosed that a total of 341 houses were either completely or partially destroyed, leaving numerous families displaced and homeless. The impact extended beyond human settlements, as approximately 19,573 acres of agricultural land and gardens were ravaged, inflicting a severe blow to the livelihoods of countless farmers and their communities. Additionally, the unfortunate loss of 1,354 livestock animals further compounds the economic and agricultural challenges faced by the affected provinces.

The provinces affected by these tragic events include Kapisa, Maidan Wardak, Takhar, Badakhshan, Ghor, Kandahar, Kunar, Nuristan, Laghman, Paktia, Khost, Daikundi, and Nangarhar. These regions have endured the brunt of nature’s fury, leaving behind a trail of devastation that demands immediate attention and assistance.

The Ministry of Disaster Management, in collaboration with local authorities and humanitarian organizations, has initiated efforts to address the urgent needs of the affected populations. Emergency response teams have been mobilized to provide medical aid, rescue operations, and support to the survivors. The focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of those affected, while also working towards restoring infrastructure and essential services in the affected areas.
