Ivanka Dineva Takes the Helm as Executive Director of EAMS Amidst Restructuring

New Leadership for EAMS

In a significant development, Ivanka Dineva has assumed the role of the new executive director of the Executive Agency “Medical Supervision” (EAMS), as per a statement released by the Ministry of Health. Dineva steps into the shoes of the outgoing director, Prof. Rosen Kolarov, and commenced her duties effective immediately.

Reasons for the Leadership Transition

The Ministry of Health has indicated that this change in leadership comes in light of the imminent restructuring of the EAMS. This revamp includes the bifurcation of the Executive Agency for Transplants into a standalone entity. The decision to implement this leadership change was taken by Prof. Hristo Hinkov, the Minister of Health.

Dineva’s Rich Career Path in Healthcare

Dineva boasts a comprehensive and lengthy tenure in the healthcare system. She embarked on her career journey in 2002, starting as a junior expert “economist” in a regional office tied to the Health Insurance Fund in Sofia. She progressively climbed the ranks, ultimately securing the position of a chief expert.

Experience in Administrative Roles

Between 2008 and 2012, Dineva occupied several roles within the Central Administration of the Health Insurance Fund. Her positions included Chief Legal Adviser, acting Chief of the independent “Legal” department, and later Director of the “Legal” department.

Roles Held in the Private Sector and Government

From 2012 to early 2017, Dineva transitioned to the private sector, working as a consultant. She also practiced as a lawyer with the Sofia Bar Association, served as an adviser to the Minister of Health, and acted as Deputy Director of the Health Insurance Fund from October 2015 to February 2017.

Recent Tenure in Government

From May 2017 until December 2020, Dineva served as an adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister on economic and demographic policy. More recently, from December 2020 until September 2022, Dineva occupied the role of the director of the Capital Health Insurance Fund.

Well-equipped for Future Challenges

With Ivanka Dineva’s appointment as the executive director of EAMS amidst its restructuring, the agency is set for a new era. Given her extensive experience in the healthcare sector and her proven administrative prowess, Dineva is well-equipped to navigate the agency through the impending changes and challenges.
