“Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has won the governorship election in the state, securing a second term of four years. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Abiodun as the winner of the election on Sunday.
Before the announcement, PDP collation agent, Sunkanmi Oyejide, cautioned INEC against declaring a winner. However, Abiodun, the All Progressives Congress candidate, emerged victorious with 276,298 votes while the PDP candidate, Ladi Adebutu, secured 262,383 votes. The African Democratic Party candidate, Biyi Otegbeye, received 94,754 votes.
The total number of valid votes cast was 645,133 out of a total of 663,968 votes. INEC reported that 18,835 votes were rejected. Governor Abiodun’s victory means that he will continue to lead Ogun State for another four years.”
