On Sunday, Federal Minister and Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Program, Shazia Murri, inaugurated the Benazir Development Center at the District Headquarters Hospital in Narowal. The development center was inaugurated alongside Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal. The event was attended by local social and political leaders, women, and other people in large numbers.
During the event, the World Food Program representative, Dr. Amara Khan, briefed the ministers on the importance of the program. Federal Minister Shazia Murri highlighted the significance of the program and explained that child malnutrition can have profound effects on their mental and physical development.
The Benazir Development Program provides special food and quarterly financial stipends to pregnant and lactating women, who benefit from the Benazir Kafal program. The stipend for the mother of the child is Rs 2000, while for the mother of a girl child, it is Rs 2500. This program aims to improve food security and combat child malnutrition in the country.
Federal Minister Shazia Murri further shared that the program has established over 400 unique development centers across the country to address this issue. This initiative will not only help improve the health of children and women but will also contribute to the overall development of the country.
The inauguration of the Benazir Development Center in Narowal is a significant step towards ensuring that children and pregnant/lactating women in the region have access to proper nutrition and financial support.
