Residents of Enugu State, Nigeria expressed frustration on Tuesday as a sit-at-home protest led to the shuttering of schools, markets, banks, malls, and police stations.
The protest, called by Simon Ekpa, an advocate for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, resulted in widespread disruption to economic and social activities in the state.
The timing of the protest also caused concern as it came on the same period as the deadline for turning in old currency notes, leaving residents with limited time to make bank deposits.
In addition, some residents reported not receiving advance notice of the sit-at-home protest, further adding to the confusion.
