Absa Bank Seychelles and SIT Partner for Digital Advancements

In a strategic move to enhance digital skills among students and align their training with the modern digital landscape, Absa Bank Seychelles and the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) have entered a partnership. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed that focuses on the augmentation of digital skills, with a particular emphasis on cloud computing. In preparation for this transformative shift, SIT lecturers have received comprehensive training in Amazon Web Services (AWS), a globally recognized cloud platform. This move prepares the teachers to better equip their students with the necessary skills for the evolving job market.
The integration of AWS into SIT’s curriculum is expected to provide far-reaching benefits. With cloud computing skills being in high demand globally, the students stand to gain a competitive edge by mastering AWS. This proficiency opens up an array of career opportunities in diverse fields such as cloud engineering, application development, and data analysis. In addition, AWS provides a practical platform for students to tackle real-world projects, thereby fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.
Linking Digital Transformation and AWS Skills
Nazim Mahmood, the managing director of Absa Bank Seychelles, emphasized the significant relationship between digital transformation and AWS skills. The collaboration with SIT, according to Mahmood, demonstrates their commitment to digital innovation. This partnership is regarded as an investment in youth, fostering digital literacy and propelling Seychelles towards a technologically advanced future. Hubert Barbe, the director of SIT, echoed these sentiments, stating that the MoU is a step in the right direction towards digitalizing their institution.
This partnership signifies a significant move towards equipping students with skills that bridge the gap between academia and industry. It reflects Absa Bank Seychelles’ dedication to nurturing talent, advancing technology and contributing to Seychelles’ journey into the digital age. The partnership aims to provide students with the skills needed to contribute to technological advancements and to prepare them for a wide range of career opportunities. With this initiative, Absa Bank Seychelles and SIT are empowering the youth, fostering digital literacy, and paving the way for a more technologically advanced future.
