Sustainable investment is important for Darin and Tarot, an island north of Dammam that has been allocated SR2.64 billion for development, economists and environmentalists stressed.
According to experts, the amount given by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman can boost the province’s economy and help the locals.
Through various projects, the authorities aim to develop the region and enhance its tourism economy. Up to 48 per cent of its 32 sq. km area will be used to build public parks, waterfronts, roads, and other facilities.
Officials said that they expect to achieve a footfall of 1.36 million tourists by 2030 and aim to create employment opportunities in the region.
