Government asked to increase financing for the oil and gas sector

The government and development partners have been urged by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Uganda (OGTAU) to improve their capacity by raising financing and supplying training materials.

The three-year organization brings together individuals, academic training centers, and training service providers from all around the country in the oil and gas industry.

The chairman of OGTAU, Mr. Bernard Ongodia, stated that they are mobilizing their whole membership to raise the necessary monies to support operations.

During the 17th Skills Development Dialogue held at Busoga International Polytechnic (BIP) in Jinja City last Friday, he remarked, “The government needs to step in and improve sectors that are still missing, notably with the procurement of training facilities and infrastructure development.”

The association is in discussions with partners, including TotalEnergies Uganda, according to Mr. Ongodia, who is also the principal of Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK), to provide more help.
