The Viseu court in Portugal has ordered the detention of seven out of the thirteen suspects who were apprehended for their involvement in a series of residential and commercial thefts across the country. The operation, led by the Viseu Territorial Command’s Criminal Investigation Nucleus (NIC) with support from other GNR units and collaboration from the PSP, Tax Authority, and Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People, involved approximately 300 law enforcement personnel.
Lieutenant Colonel Adriano Resende, the Public Relations officer of the Viseu Territorial Command, disclosed that among the fifteen individuals arrested, eleven men and four women ranging in age from 22 to 56, thirteen are directly linked to the primary offenses. Out of these, seven suspects have been placed in preventive detention, awaiting trial.
The operation primarily targeted thefts occurring in the Porto district but involved the cooperation and coordinated efforts of multiple territorial commands, including Aveiro, Braga, Bragança, Coimbra, Porto, and Viana do Castelo.
