Reverend Musa Mairimi, the minister in charge of the Ecwa Church, Buda two, Kasuwa Magani in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been tragically shot and killed by gunmen believed to be terrorists. The attackers also abducted the clergyman’s wife and two other clerics, demanding a N50 million ransom for their release.
The incident was confirmed by Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Joseph Hayab. He stated that the terrorists invaded the community on Thursday after killing Reverend Mairimi. It was also reported that over 100 people abducted from various parts of the state have been released.
According to Rev. Hayab, the victims had been held in the terrorists’ camp for over six months, primarily in the Local Government Areas of Kauru, Jaba, Kachia, Kagarko, and Kajuru. After the presidential election, three clergies were abducted, and the terrorists initially demanded N50 million for the release of one of the captives still in their custody. The ransom amount has since been negotiated down to N5 million.
Rev. Hayab lamented the current situation in Kaduna State and the lack of concrete arrests related to the kidnappings, leaving residents in fear and uncertainty about who to turn to for help.
