Canada PMO Dismiss Indian Diplomat’s Allegations that Trudeau’s Plane to G20 Was ‘Full of Cocaine’

Claims of Cocaine Use on Trudeau’s G20 Visit

In an escalating diplomatic dispute between India and Canada, former Indian diplomat Deepak Vohra has alleged that Indian sniffer dogs detected cocaine on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s plane during the recent G20 meeting in New Delhi. Vohra further claimed that Trudeau displayed signs of depression and behaved in a childlike manner, leading him to speculate that drug use might be involved.

The Canadian Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has firmly rejected these allegations, labelling them as disinformation. This denial comes amidst rising tensions between the two countries, following Trudeau’s allegations of India’s involvement in the death of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil.

The Backdrop of a Diplomatic Spat

These allegations and subsequent denials have occurred in the backdrop of an escalating diplomatic confrontation between India and Canada. Following Trudeau’s claims, both nations have expelled diplomats from each other’s countries. In addition, India has suspended visa services to Canada, marking a significant downturn in their diplomatic relations.

Canadian PMO Dismisses Allegations

The Canadian PMO has categorically denied the accusations levelled by Vohra, stating, “This is absolutely false and a troubling example of how disinformation can make its way into media reporting.” The response from the Canadian government underscores the seriousness with which it views these allegations, as they grapple with the ongoing diplomatic fallout with India.

A Former Diplomat’s Controversial Claims

Deepak Vohra, a former Indian ambassador to Sudan, has been known to make controversial statements, including derogatory references to Chinese President Xi Jinping. His latest allegations regarding Trudeau’s behaviour and potential drug use during the G20 summit have added fuel to the diplomatic fire between India and Canada.

Vohra’s claims about Trudeau being “depressed and stressed” and his speculation about potential drug use have been met with skepticism and outright denial from the Canadian side. This denial, however, has not dampened the controversy surrounding these allegations.

Tensions Rise Amidst Accusations of Terrorism

The backdrop of this diplomatic confrontation is Trudeau’s allegations that Indian agents may have been involved in the death of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani extremist. Nijjar, who was designated as a terrorist by India in 2020, was killed on Canadian soil, leading to a serious row between the two countries.

India has vehemently denied these allegations, terming them as “absurd and motivated.” The Indian government has expressed its displeasure by expelling a senior Canadian diplomat, a move that was reciprocated by Ottawa.

The reciprocal expulsion of diplomats and the suspension of visa services indicate a severe strain in India-Canada relations. The allegations of drug use by Trudeau and the counter-allegations of Indian involvement in Nijjar’s death have further complicated the diplomatic landscape between the two nations.

Conclusion

As the situation stands, the diplomatic relations between India and Canada are on a knife-edge, with serious allegations and counter-allegations flying between the two countries. It remains to be seen how this diplomatic fallout will evolve and what impact it will have on the bilateral relations between India and Canada.
