Governor Mauricio Aguilar has clarified that despite the installation of banners and stickers alluding to the presence of residual Organized Armed Groups or Farc dissidents in ’El Playon’, Santander, there is no concrete evidence of their actual presence in this specific area of the department.

The extraordinary security council meeting was convened to address the concerns raised by these allusive banners. Governor Aguilar emphasized that while the banners may reflect the proselytizing tactics used by the Farc in the past, they cannot be considered as definitive proof of their direct presence in this jurisdiction.

However, authorities offered a reward of up 10 million of pesos for information those who installed Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) billboards in ‘El Playon’ in department of Santander.

Despite the fact that the Santander Government dismissed the presence of the Farc dissidents in the area, the community is scared. Following the appearance of a banner, stickers, and other documents alluding to the presence of Farc dissidents on the road leading to the township of San Pedro in the municipality of El Playón, Santander, the Regional Ombudsman's Office expressed immediate concern and called for an extraordinary security council to address the situation. The incident caused panic among the local population and was strongly condemned by the Ombudsman's Office.

Rodrigo Gonzalez, the Santander Ombudsman, emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need for prompt action from the relevant authorities. The Ombudsman's Office swiftly communicated the information to the appropriate channels and stressed the alarming effect such incidents have on the affected communities.
