A case review found that hospital doctors neglected to inform child protection services about a list of “significant” injuries a five-year-old boy sustained 11 months prior to his murder. When Logan Mwangi was brought to A&E in August 2020, he had a broken arm and numerous bruises all over his body.
However, a paediatric consultant said that these wounds were accidental and did not refer the matter to child protection. Logan was murdered by his mother, stepfather, and a teenager in Bridgend.
For the murder in July 2021, Logan’s mother, Angharad Williamson, 31, is currently serving at least 28 years in prison. His stepfather John Cole, 40, will serve at least 29 years in prison and Craig Mulligan, 14, was given a sentence of at least 15 years.
