76-year-old dies after being hit by car in Rhondda

A 76-year-old woman died after being hit by a car in Rhondda Cynon Taff. The woman died following the collision at 8.05 pm on Thursday.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after police said a blue Ford Focus hit the woman who later died as a result of the injuries she sustained. The man is currently in police custody.

Police sergeant Darren Westall said South Wales Police is appealing for help from potential witnesses with its investigation. “My thoughts remain with her family and friends.

A 24-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody at Merthyr Tydfil Police Station.”
