Mini tornado hits Powys, closing A470 until Thursday

A tornado has brought down a row of trees, closing part of the A470. The A470 between Builth Wells and Erwood, closed yesterday, will not reopen before Thursday noon.
Locals reported seeing the tornado take down a row of trees on the road. Traffic from Builth Wells to Llyswen will be affected. On Wednesday Powys County Council said, “The A470 is currently closed between Builth Wells and Erwood after a mini tornado brought down several trees.
The road is not expected to reopen before Thursday afternoon.” Many households in Newport and Monmouthshire also reported power outages as a result due to the weather conditions on Wednesday night.
