The region of Central Florida is preparing for a break from the high temperatures it is known for, as a cold front approaches this weekend. While the expected temperatures are not extremely low, they are significantly cooler than the usual. Cities like Orlando are predicted to experience temperatures in the upper 60s during sunrise and sunset. Similarly, Gainesville will see temperatures in the low to mid-60s. Throughout the day, the region can look forward to highs in the mid to upper 80s till early next week, giving residents a respite from the sweltering heat.
In addition to the drop in temperature, the cold front is expected to bring the driest air of the season due to a subtropical system that is forming off Florida’s coast. This system will effectively end the thick humidity that Central Florida is known to endure, bringing more comfortable weather conditions. A gentle northwest breeze accompanying the cold front will further contribute to a more pleasant weekend.
However, meteorologists have warned that this pleasant weather is only temporary. The humidity that is currently bottled up in South Florida is projected to surge northward early next week. This humidity surge will result in a week that is not only more humid, but also rainier. Despite the temporary nature of this weather shift, it promises to provide a welcome relief for the residents of Central Florida.
