A Namibian man was bitten by a Cape Cobra in a police cell at Maltahöhe in Souithern Namibia, the Namibian Police said Sunday.
The 44-year-old man who is awaiting trial was taken to hospital and the police said his condition is stable. The snake was killed but the police could not tell how the snake got into the cell. The snakes are common in southern and central Namibia.
Cape Cobras are one of Africa’s most venomous snakes. Cape Cobras are also found in South Africa, Botswana and Lesotho.
