Eighty-five birds were seized in the Jardim das Nações neighborhood in Taubaté city, São Paulo state. Seventy-seven were exotic and eight were native, but none of them had documentation.
The native birds were collected and will be sent to the Wild Animal Screening Center.
The owner of the birds was fined US$4,182. He was denounced for an environmental crime, for keeping native birds in captivity without authorization, and for introducing exotic birds without a favorable technical document.
