Major Challenges for Afghanistan

The head of the NEPA, Hafiz Azizur Rahman, identified the imposed wars of the past four decades and the recent crises of climate change as the biggest challenges in Afghanistan. These factors have caused significant harm to the country's environment, water sectors, agriculture, and forests, exacerbating the risk of various diseases. Regrettably, the problems of climate change are beyond the capacity of the government and necessitate national and international collaboration.

Call for Continued Financial and Technical Cooperation

Afghanistan seeks continued financial and technical support from international organizations with environmental projects operating in the country. The general director of NEPA asked them to overlook political considerations and sustain their efforts for environmental and climate change. The country requires critical aid and cooperation from international agencies to combat the massive impact of climate change.

As climate change becomes more of a concerning issue globally, it's uplifting to see countries come together to tackle the problem collectively. However, it's crucial to ensure countries like Afghanistan have sufficient backing to build their resilience and battle the devastating effects of this phenomenon.
