Avalanche hits Ladakh; 2 killed

A woman and a teenage girl were killed on Sunday after they came under an avalanche in the Kargil district of Ladakh, a police official said.

As per the details available, the deceased were identified as kulsum Bi(14) & Bilquis Bano (25). They were walking on the Kargil-Zanskar highway when they were hit by an avalanche.

The avalanche hit them at around 2:30 pm after which a rescue operation was also launched but all go in vain. The bodies were handed over to their families for last rites after the completion of legal formalities.
