The Inspection Can has said that a truck fire can be the reason behind pig carcasses that were piled outside a Saskatoon rendering plant earlier this week.
The pig carcasses were left outside West Coast Reduction’s rendering operation on Miner’s Avenue on Monday. According to plant manager Sam Agassiz, a semi caught fire inside the facility a few weeks ago which, besides the truck and trailer, damaged a door, some equipment as well.
“We have dedicated trailers on site that will be reserved as a contingency so that nothing will be put on the floor,” Agassiz said. “It would just be held in trailers.”
