Mr. Harou Mamane, the Secretary General of the Zinder region, conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Governor to the grieving families of the deceased. Additionally, he expressed wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured in the tragic incident.

The accident took place near Guezawa, specifically on the national road 11 (RN11) between Zinder and Tanout, around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25. The collision occurred when the Hiace bus, a popular 19-seater minibus locally known as a "missile," was traveling at high speed from Zinder and crashed into the stationary truck.

Authorities report that the accident happened close to the village of Sellum, at kilometer point (PK) 71 on the Zinder-Tanout route. Witnesses to the tragedy highlight that the driver received multiple warnings, including installed signs and alerts from nearby individuals, who sensed the impending danger due to the excessive speed of the vehicle carrying over twenty passengers.

Despite these efforts, the unfortunate incident transpired, resulting in the immediate loss of eleven lives. Subsequently, eleven injured individuals were rushed to the emergency room at the National Hospital of Zinder (HNZ), where, regrettably, one more person succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total number of fatalities to twelve.

Upon receiving the news, Mr. Harou Mamane, on behalf of the Governor, promptly visited the accident scene. He offered his deepest condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and expressed hope for a swift recovery for the injured victims.
