Firefighters made a frantic effort to rescue a person trapped under the truck's wheel for two and a half hours, who was eventually rescued and identified as Mukul Hossain, 40, a resident of Rayer Bagh in Dhaka and a bus driver.

The two other injured individuals, Shahjahan, 32, and Md Mehedi Hasan, 28, were undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the capital due to critical conditions.

According to the in-charge of Bhaterchar Highway Police Station, ASM Rashedul Islam, the Dhaka-bound truck carrying rods lost control and plowed into a crowd of people at Bhaterchar on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway around 9.30 PM. The truck fell into a ditch after hitting four individuals.
