From Pop Stardom to Spirituality: The Intriguing Journey of Serbian Singer Milan Stanković

Rising to Stardom

Renowned Serbian pop singer Milan Stanković first captured the hearts of audiences as a finalist on Serbia’s Zvezde Granda reality TV talent competition in 2007. His distinctive style, often likened to k-pop, and his captivating voice quickly won him a legion of fans. His debut album “Solo”, released in 2009, was a commercial success, selling 50,000 copies. Born on September 9, 1987, Stanković has since become a household name in Serbia and beyond.

Stanković’s career took a significant leap forward when he represented Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with his song “Ovo je Balkan”. Despite not clinching the top spot and finishing in 13th place, the international exposure further boosted his popularity. In addition to his recording career, Stanković also served as a judge on the children’s singing competition Pinkove Zvezdice from 2014 to 2018, further expanding his influence in the entertainment industry.

Experiencing a Shift

Stanković made headlines when he was reported to be on his way to becoming a novice monk at the Podmaine monastery in Montenegro. However, for undisclosed reasons, he was allegedly turned away from this spiritual path. This unexpected hurdle led him back to his initial passion – music.

A Triumphant Return

Stanković’s return to the music industry was marked by a performance at a wedding, where he sang the song “Hotel Balkan” by Zdravko Čolić. His comeback was eagerly awaited by his fans, who had been missing his unique style and enchanting vocals. His physical appearance too underwent a noticeable transformation; the singer now sports long hair tied back in a ponytail and has slimmed down significantly. His attire, as observed at the wedding, was more casual, marking a departure from his usual stage outfits.

The response to his performance at the wedding was overwhelmingly positive, with fans showering him with comments such as “Bravo Milan, you were born for the stage,” and “there’s no better vocalist.” His journey, from the reality show stage to the Eurovision platform, and from the contemplative life of a monastery to the glitz of the entertainment world, is nothing short of intriguing.

Deeply Devoted to Faith

Apart from his successful music career, Stanković is known for his deep attachment to Orthodox Christian faith and spirituality. Regularly visiting monasteries and churches, he believes these visits help him find inner peace and tranquility while inspiring his music. His recent visit to a monastery, where he filmed various religious icons and rosaries, was well received by his followers, who appreciated his commitment and spirituality.

Branching Out

In addition to his music, reports suggest that Stanković has built a successful transportation business in Chicago. The singer, who started with a single truck, now owns a dozen. He runs the entire operation from Belgrade and has created a thriving business by offering his drivers higher wages compared to other owners.

Anticipating What’s Next

Stanković’s planned return to the music scene after a prolonged absence has generated considerable anticipation among fans and industry insiders. The announcement of his comeback, coupled with the conspicuous transformation in his physical appearance, has led to much public commentary and speculation. As the music world awaits Stanković’s return, the interest in his journey, both personal and professional, continues to grow. With his record of successful performances and a dedicated fan base, his comeback promises to be an exciting chapter in the world of music.
