Portus Patris Literary Prize Returns for its 29th Edition
The Portus Patris Literary Prize, now in its 29th edition, is slated to occur from September 28 to September 30. The acclaimed event will take place in the head municipality and Villa Azul, serving as a platform to honor the renowned figure of Eduardo Heras León. Furthermore, the event is scheduled to coincide with the IV Congress of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), which will occur in October.
Kicking off with a Live Radio Show
The literary event will commence with a live broadcast of the radio show, Tocarte, on Radio Victoria. The show will feature an overview of the event’s planned program and include guest appearances. This interactive approach is designed to engage and inform listeners about the event, the honorees, and the scheduled activities.
A Community-Focused Literary Event
The head of the youth artistic vanguard in the province, Ana Margarita Arada Clavería, emphasized that the event will have a strong community focus. It aims to reach various places, such as El Boquerón and El Socucho, in an effort to bring literature to different audiences, with a particular focus on teenagers. Activities will also be held in schools, enabling young learners to actively participate in, and benefit from, the event.
Featuring Prominent Literary Figures
The event will feature notable literary figures such as Erick Motta and Rafael Grillo. They will engage in discussions on various literary topics such as the art of writing a noir novel and the unique aspects of science fiction and fantasy literature. Additionally, these esteemed writers will participate in meetings with literary workshops from the Balcón de Oriente and students from Luis Urquiza Jorge ipvce.
Literary Gatherings, Book Presentations, and More
The schedule for the Portus Patris Literary Prize includes literary gatherings such as Sinestesia, Cronopios, and Hojas sueltas. These gatherings will provide opportunities for reading texts, musical performances, and book presentations. Among the books to be presented is Los pasos en la hierba, a work by the honoree, Heras León.
Portus Patris Literary Prize Competition
Eduardo Rosell, the Head of the Literature Section of the AHS, revealed that this year’s Portus Patris Literary Prize was announced in the Narrative genre (for adults). Out of the 13 works submitted, five have been shortlisted, and one will be selected as the winner. The event will also feature the presentation of notebooks from previous winners of the Portus Patris Prize.
A Collaborative Effort
The preparation for this event has been a collaborative effort, with the Provincial Book and Literature Center (CPLL) and the Community Initiative Exchange and Reference Center (Cieric) playing significant roles.
